How to Add Items to Your Menu in the My Takeaway App

• Lets you add new food and drink items to your menu.
• Allows you to either use an existing category or create a new one first.
• Ensures items are visible instantly on customer ordering platforms and in EPOS.

• Supports editing, reordering, and hiding items at any time.

  You can add an item in two ways:

• If the category already exists (e.g. Pizzas): follow Option 1
• If you need a new category first (e.g. Smoothies): follow Option 2

1. Open the My Takeaway app on your smartphone.
2. Tap the “Hamburger” menu (≡).
3. Select Menu.
4. Tap the category where you want to add the item.
   • If there are subcategories, select the correct subcategory.
5. Tap Add Item.
6. Enter the item details:
   • Name (1st Language): Enter the item name (e.g. Paneer Tikka Pizza).
   • Description (1st Language): Enter a description (optional).
   • Price: Enter the price of the item.
7. (Optional) Tap Add Item again to add more items.
8. Tap Save.

Result: The new item appears instantly in the chosen category and is visible to customers and staff.

1. Open the My Takeaway app on your smartphone.
2. Tap the “Hamburger” menu (≡).
3. Select Menu.
4. Tap the “+” icon to create a new category.
5. Enter the category name (e.g. Smoothies) and tap Save.
6. (Optional) Tap the “+” icon again to add a subcategory.
7. Select the new category (or subcategory).
8. Tap Add Item.
9. Enter the item details:
   • Item Name: Enter the item name (e.g. Mango Smoothie).
   • Description (1st Language): Enter a description (optional).
   • Price: Enter the price of the item.
10. (Optional) Tap Add Item again to add more items.
11. Tap Save.

Result: Your new item will appear under the newly created category (and subcategory, if added).

Best Practice: Always double-check the category before saving. Moving an item later requires deleting and re-adding it.

• Edit an item
  1. Select the category and subcategory where the item is stored.
  2. Tap the item and select Edit.
  3. Update the name, description, or price.
  4. Tap Save.
     Result: The changes appear instantly for customers and staff.
• Reorder items
  1. Go to the subcategory containing the items.
  2. Tap Sort Items.
  3. Tap the “Hamburger” menu (≡).
  4. Hold the “Drag” icon (⋮⋮) next to the item.
  5. Move the item into position.
  6. Release to confirm.
     Result: The new order updates straight away across EPOS and customer apps.
• Hide without deleting
  To make an item temporarily unavailable, mark it as Unavailable.
  Best Practice: Use this for items you plan to bring back, rather than deleting.
• Delete an item
  Deleting removes the item permanently from the category.
  Important: If you add an item under the wrong category, you must delete it and re-add it to the correct one.

• Multiple items
  You can add multiple items at once by tapping Add Item again or pressing F8.
• Duplication
  Items cannot be copied to another category. They must be created manually in the new location.
• Modifiers
  Item modifiers (e.g. sizes, toppings) can be added separately. (See: How to Add Modifiers).
• Languages
  You can add translations for item names and descriptions in the multiple languages section. (See: Managing My Menu – Multiple Languages).
• Prices
  Items without a price cannot be ordered. Always enter a valid price.
