How to Create and Manage Modifier Groups in the My Takeaway App

• Lets you add extra choices such as toppings, sizes, and meal customisations.
• Helps customers personalise their order before checkout.
• Increases upselling opportunities by offering chargeable extras.
• Ensures menus stay flexible and competitive.

Follow these steps to create a new modifier group:

1. Open the My Takeaway app on your smartphone.
2. Tap the “Hamburger” menu (≡).
3. Select Menu → Modifier Groups.
4. Tap the “+” icon to add a new modifier group.
5. Enter the Group Name (for example Base, Crust & Toppings).
6. (Optional) Enter a short description.
   Best Practice: Use this to explain the group clearly to customers.
7. Set the Min and Max values:
   • Min = minimum number of selections a customer must make.
   • Max = maximum number of selections allowed.
8. Choose if the group is Required.
   • If switched on, customers must select at least one option before ordering.
9. Select the Pricing Method:
   • Fixed – all modifiers are charged at the same set price.
   • Selection-Based – allows a certain number of free selections.
10. If using Selection-Based, set the Maximum free selections (e.g. first 3 toppings free, charge for extras).
11. Tap Create to save the modifier group.

Result: The new modifier group is now available to assign to items in your menu.

• Edit a group
  Select the modifier group, tap Edit, update the details, then tap Save.
• Reorder modifiers inside a group
  Use the “Hamburger” menu (≡) and the “Drag” icon (⋮⋮) to change the order of modifiers.
• Delete a group
  Important: Deleting a group removes it from all linked items. Only delete if you no longer need it.

• Min and Max settings
  These only apply to groups with multiple selections, such as toppings.
  Example: A pizza may require at least 1 topping (Min = 1) but allow up to 3 free toppings (Max = 3).
• Required groups
  If switched on, customers cannot checkout until they choose at least one option.
• Upsell opportunities
  Use Selection-Based pricing to allow some free choices and charge for extras. This encourages bigger orders.
